Margret Ellwanger was raised and educated in Munich, Germany. She holds a Master’s in Physics and worked at Siemens Research in a Solid State Laboratory. She is an Alumni Speaker for the Technical University Munich (TUM) in Israel and the United States.
An internship at the Indian Institute of Technology in 1974 sparked her desire to pursue science and community development work. This passion was expanded through accepting a variety of volunteer positions while she and her husband, Russell, raised their four children during 30 years of expatriate High Tech employment in The Netherlands, Japan, Singapore and Israel. In 2001 she co-founded Pillows for Peace, a cottage industry and community development business that brings products from microenterprise projects to global markets. Since 2005 she has been integrating grassroots peace building projects that strengthen families and communities through microenterprise.
