forPEACE Excels at Targeted Aid Through Integrated War Relief
The forPEACE Ukraine Relief Project deals in hyperlocalized targeted aid. We focus on precise, small assistance that has force multiplying impact. We work with Ukrainians in the war zone effectively connecting the power of international financial support with the expertise of Ukrainian networks, medical professionals, and trusted community organizers that know what is needed, where it is needed, and how to get it there in record time.

Trauma Surgery Program
At frontline hospitals in Ukraine, soldiers arrive daily with major blast injuries to the face. Currently, traumatic injuries are treated with simple sutures to open wounds with no underlying treatment of the destroyed bone or repair of facial structures.
This patient has a ballistic injury from a bullet entering from the back of the ear and out of his nose, resulting in left maxilla fracturing into the airway. Dr. Ellwanger is training doctors in a frontline hospital on how to reposition the left maxilla to its proper location with an open reduction and surgical fixation with titanium hardware to allow for proper function again.
Without in-country expertise, there is a reliance on heroic medical evacuations flying individual patients to other countries for treatment. Medical evacuations help a few, but leave the majority of injuries unaddressed. Trauma surgery expertise needs to be provided and developed in-country.
Through a long-term training program forPEACE integrates with local surgical departments to, address the in-country gap to treat war related face and neck trauma. The program is led by Dr. Ellwanger, former Major in the US Air Force, whose specialization is oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS). Dr. Ellwanger has over a decade of surgical trauma experience including wartime injuries at a Level One trauma center in San Antonio, TX.
forPEACE’s Trauma Surgery Program aims to empower facial trauma departments in Ukraine to develop their own capacity and skills in conjunction with expanded patient care protocols and standards, including comprehensive patient care.
forPEACE is raising funds for surgical equipment for in-country hands-on training and surgical procedures by Ukrainian surgeons to accomplish facial reconstructions.

FRONTLINE
forPEACE works directly with many frontline medical evacuation units and provides them with ambulance, all terrain evacuation vehicles, gear, medicines and medical equipment. This is one of ten vehicles that we have provided to these units. This frontline medic ran a frontline field hospital down by Kherson. Thanks to your support this medic and ambulance saved hundreds of lives during the counteroffensive to liberate the region.
Comprehensive Non-lethal Aid
forPEACE provides comprehensive non-lethal aid to volunteer defenders. We work to optimize strategic impact with frontline defenders and medical units. The aid we provide increases volunteers’ ability to move safely, identify friends from foes, survive enemy contact, and ultimately, to return home to their families alive.
Frontline Paramedic Support
forPEACE provides life-saving equipment to units that are at the forefront of the war including first-aid kits, medications, and medical evacuation vehicles used to transport those injured from the frontline to hospitals.

HUMANITARIAN
Humanitarian needs are immense and always changing. We work alongside locals in accountable and responsive social networks to respond to needs of communities living in occupied territories or close to them that lack functional infrastructure and services.
Water Filtration
forPEACE has introduced water filtration systems to communities in desperate need. Our clean water program stretches across the entire conflict zone servicing the needs of hospitals, neighborhoods, shelters, and mining communities. forPEACE works within an extensive and accountable network of volunteers to ensure that water filters are placed in communally accessible areas.
Winter Survival
With an energy crisis looming in Ukraine and all of Europe this winter, urgent preparation is needed to ensure civilians are provided traditional and alternative methods of staying warm and fed. forPEACE is providing crucial survival resources for the coming winter. This includes thermal clothing, portable heating devices, and food.
